A rare opportunity to learn from three teachers, friends for over 40 years, with over 120 years of combined teaching experience. Join Mary Paffard, Patricia Sullivan and Richard Rosen for a three-and-a-half hour workshop that will dig deep into the secrets of twisting poses. We’ll begin by briefly addressing the essential elements of and important safety cautions for twists. Once this foundation is established, we’ll go into the practical how’s and why’s of preparing for, performance of, and simple modifications and adaptations that may be needed for certain common limitations. We’ll also look into the use of basic props–particularly the long-neglected yoga chair and weighted bag–how twists might benefit your daily life, and more. There will be time at the end of the workshop to talk over the concluded practice and ask questions. In the early 1980s, all three of our teachers trained in the same yoga style, but over the decades took their practices in slightly different directions. They will agree on a lot, but be assured they’ll have occasional disagreements that will occasion lively debates and unique perspectives on the practice of twists and, in all likelihood, many other relevant issues.
Suitable: for Yogis with a minimum of 2 years experience, of particular interest to dedicated practitioners and teachers.
