OceanicYoga in Ukiah!
Monday Evenings 5.30-6.45pm - 5 week series August 17 - September 14
at the Grace Hudson Meeting Room, behind the Sun House, Ukiah
This is a special series to help us cool down on these hot summer days and connect with our aquatic souls! Each session will focus on an aspect of our coastal and maritime worlds and remind us of our inherent fluidity and interdependence with our magical sea kith and kin, and our original home - water! We may not be able to be by the ocean all summer, but we can bring the ocean into our practice and path.
8/17 - Light on Water - Exploring the concept of “wave” in movement and the broad vista of the ocean
8/24 - Listening to the Sea in the Breath through simple standing and spiraling poses.
8/31 - Starfish Inspirations in hands, feet and whole body movement
9/7 - Exploring the Kelp Forest and the deep low pulse of belly/psoas
9/14 - Floating - Trust in the Back Body and passive/active backbends
These classes are for a wide variety of levels. This is not “hot sweaty yoga”!! however, these classes will build strength, focus on posture, flexibility and bringing harmony to every aspect of being. Each class will explore all aspects of yoga practice from breathwork to active and passive asana and create a fully balanced practice. They will end with a quiet relaxation and/meditation.
Options will be given to those who need to modify certain poses. If you are a complete beginner, contact your health provider and Mary before registering.
Students need to bring their own yoga mat and a large towel or small blanket to each class.
Fee: $75/85 if registered after 8/10
$75/ 85 after 8/10 - $20 Drop-in
Please register for the full series. Drop-ins will only be accepted if we have our minimum number of registrants for the series by 8/10. If you are registered for the series and you miss one session, on request you can receive a link to an online recording based on the theme of the class and available for one week.
