Yoga Salon - Taking Flight LAST CALL!

Taking Flight! A Murmuration

ONLINE: Yoga Salon 2026
Taking Flight! Bird Power

These monthly gatherings on first Sundays with fellow yoga nutz are a highlight of my year. And clearly significant to past and continuing participants. See below.

My Personal Attachment!
Each year we invite the muse of the natural world to spark and sustain our yoga. Last year, we dove into ‘Verdancy’, and the wisdom of plant life and Robin Kimmerer’s inspirations; previously we have explored the gurus of the ‘Deep Sea Mammals’, the ‘Magic of Trees,’ the creativity of climate activists….. Each monthly session we have a long practice based around a theme connected to our muse, and later we chat in small and large group about the practice and its relationship to our current lives. There is also online material to evolve a richer discussion and inspiration during the month, along with the option to check in with one other participant each month. In this way building both the internal “bird power” in practice and opening to the wider perspectives of a kindly and supportive sangha.

The imagery of birds may well prove particularly potent this year as we may wish to keep a bird’s eye view in times of polarisation and division and cultural myopia. How do we value our “nests” of refuge and protection, and honor soft landings in the chaos of the every day? Can we find the impulse to take and sustain flight into creative endeavor whether that is in our yoga practice, or in how we bring our yoga into each moment and engaged action. How can we move as a murmuration and share avian influence literally in our asana, breathwork and meditation, and also in our broader communications, through the song of vitality, peace and love?

Please Note: You do not have to be a teacher or advanced practitioner to enjoy and benefit from this program. Just willing to dive deep and explore in good company! Everything is always optional….

Words from our Yoga Salon folks of the recent past:

“The Yoga Salon is a wonderful way for teachers and those who practice alone to get inspired to keep rolling out the mat. Whenever I work with Mary I become excited again at what I'm discovering in my body and how that connects to my life off the mat—and then I'm inspired to share it with others. I don't teach like Mary but I am deeply inspired by her offerings, and since 2005 she has been a wonderful source of inspiration to my life and teaching.

I highly recommend the Yoga Salon for those who are teaching and don't have a mentor. As teachers, we have a huge responsibility, as our students look up to us. Mary keeps me humble and the work keeps my ego in check so that I may be of service, and not fall into the delusion of adoration that I so often receive from my students. Don't get me wrong, I love those compliments, but working with Mary helps keep me accountable to the fact that I am human and "not all that" 😀. “
Rebecca D New York - Actor, Teacher and Teacher Trainer

Salon is a beautiful opportunity to dedicate space and time to the depths within and around you. Mary’s guidance invites you into nature’s rhythm, a gift in these times. Time spent in this community has supported my remembering of my true nature and deepened my respect for all of life’s expressions.”
Gia B - Pleasanton, CA - Psychotherapist, Yoga Teacher, Massage Practitioners

”The yoga salon allowed me to think more deeply about my practice and read around and discuss how we are part of nature in all its forms. This was not as a teacher but a yoga woman who wants to know and think more about her practice with Mary and like-minded others.”
Sue C - UK - Retired Nurse, Yoga Teacher, Gardener

“In these times of needing union and solidarity more than ever, Yoga Salon has been a respite and boon - not only for individual solace and renewal, but also as a space where colleagues come together to be inspired and nourished in our service. Mary is a rare blessing!”
TJ - Alameda, CA - Yoga Teacher and Trainer, Yoga Therapist and Ayurvedic Practitioner
