Yoga Retreat at Spa near Girona Spain

We have confirmed the dates for this wonderful retreat at Hotel Balneari Prats, Caldas de Malavella, Spain.   This is a traditional spa (going back to Roman times traditional!!) in the little town of Caldas de Malavella in Catalunya, NE Spain.   The hotel is situated on a train-line between Girona and Barcelona and is a short drive from the Girona airport.   About 50 minutes drive to the Costa Brava.   A perfect place to rest, relax and visit the charms of this beautiful area of Catalunya.   

SCHEDULE: This 5 day retreat begins with an evening class and dinner on Sunday April 8 and we finish the course on Friday April 13, after an early morning class and breakfast. Each day we have a long am session with the option to start with meditation, a late breakfast follows and the day is free to rest in the thermal pool or have spa treatments, or go explore the area and beaches if you rent a car, or visit Barcelona on the train.     Most of us do very little on the days there, just absorb the yoga in good company but sometimes we come with partners who want to do a little more than revive their yoga practice and chill!  All can be accommodated.  There is a pre-dinner gentle class and on occasional evenings/afternoons, we have discussions and yoga focused events.   Wednesday there is no evening class.  If there are several teachers and serious students we find informal time to talk about teaching and practice issues separate from the main course - open to all but especially for the yoga nutz!

TUITION AND ADMINS FEE if registered in full by December 1, $450 for the course/£300 for UK participants - This does not include accommodation or food.  UK and European participants can pay online with credit card or by check in pounds at the rate that is current at time of payment. Please contact Mary directly if you wish to pay by cheque and she will send you a UK/US address for these payments.   

ACCOMMODATION and MEALS:  We ask everyone to do their own bookings directly with the hotel and request whatever accommodation you wish, with preferably half-board (Breakfast and Dinner) so we can meet at breakfast and lunch.  You can use booking.com but it's better for the hotel and more informative if you use their website www.balneariprats.     You can choose any kind of accommodation from the luxurious to the simple.  We recommend the rooms in the renovated section of the hotel if you are sensitive to sound but all the rooms are pleasant and it just depends on individual preferences.   Please ask a previous participant or me! if you have any questions.   If you prefer to only have breakfast with the group and to go to other places for dinner, that's fine also.  The hotel are very reasonable but do need warning if you want to change your original booking on arrival.  Everyone finds their own lunch - there are cafes and shops in the area to chose from or you can have lunch at the hotel.  

TRANSPORT:   There are direct flights from Stanstead and Luton in the UK to Girona airport and we usually connect all those traveling that way so that you can share a taxi to the hotel (c 30 euros/ 20 mins drive) . Booking these early is crucial for lower prices.  Barcelona airport (1.5 hour in train or car away) has a bus service to Girona airport or you can arrive by train from central Barcelona.   If you have a wheely suitcase, you can walk to hotel from Caldas de Malavella train station, or we can give you info to get a taxi.  Taxis from Barcelona airport are in the region of 150-200 euros!!.   If you are coming from further away, we recommend coming a day or 2 earlier to accommodate the longer journey and to have time in places like Barcelona along the way.   

PROPS:  We ask everyone to at least bring a yoga mat and a strap.   If you have room for a block or other favorite props, great!  

The combination of the yoga and the thermal spa ensured this was the holiday I've promised myself for years!

Returning home from my 3rd retreat here.  In essence how do I feel: Fabulous!   Calm, focused, happy.  Physically strong yet measured.  Joyful.   Interested and excited to put into practice what I have learnt and understood from the physical practice of yoga alongside the philosophical aspects.  Listening to others on the retreat, be they teachers, or like myself, just someone who uses yoga as a life's tool, has also been relevant to my everyday practice for home.  The spa hotel is utterly perfect for this week.....For those who wish to bring their other halves, it works.  Biking, sleeping, reading, thermal waters etc.

This week has afforded me the precious peace and space which I needed to ground myself and address important life issues. ...It was lovely to spend quality time with my daughter and in the company of kind new friends.  This spa hotel was such a great choice. I found it very tranquil and excellent value for money in comparison to similar places in the U.K.
