You were born with potential.
You were born with goodness and trust.
You were born with ideals and dreams.
You were born with greatness.
You were born with wings.
You are not meant for crawling, so don’t.
You have wings.
Learn to use them and fly.
This workshop will explore the relationship between the interior body, belly and breath and the upper extremity, using imagery to create a fluid vital yoga practice that will revitalise the whole body and spirit. We will enhance the overall movement of the “wings” of the heart through identifying connections between hand, elbow, and shoulders. The first part of the practice will incorporate both unusual movements and familiar poses that build strength and a sense of vastness through the upper extremity – this section will include inversions and backbends and options for those not practicing these poses. Following a 10 minute break, there will be a short discussion on the essence of practice in these times to dispel despair, cultivate focus and support engagement. The last part of the workshop we will use some fun partner poses to facilitate the notion of flight in asana, and we will end with restorative poses and meditation, bringing freedom and ease within the breath and heart.
Suitable for a wide range of student with a minimum of one years experience. May be of particular interest to teachers and serious practitioners who are curious about the interior body and authenticity in asana.
