Panca Bhuta refers to the 5 Elements, the essential elements of life!   This program uses the elements as a framework for a rich and sustaining program for those who wish to teach, to review their teaching, or to simply delve deeper into their own practice and the yoga story, using teaching as a metaphor for practice.
PBY is a special opportunity to study with Richard Rosen and Mary Paffard.  These 2 teachers have collaborated on trainings and yoga programs for over 2 decades and look forward to bringing a lively sangha of yoga practitioners together to evolve their own practice, share this practice with others and explore the art and science of yoga in a 21st century context.
This  unique Yoga Immersion and 250 Hour Training  will occur at You and the Mat, in Oakland, CA  8/31/2018  -  3/3/2019.    For more information about the program and our June 2nd Free Class and Info Session, see our official website at:

Mary and Richard invite you to join them for this 250-hour training based on yoga’s five traditional elements. Each will serve as a month-long focus, each contributing an essential quality to your practice on and off the mat: EARTH for stability, WATER for fluidity, FIRE for enthusiasm, AIR for lightness, and ETHER for spaciousness. Between them, Mary and Richard have more than 60 years of teaching experience. This course can be taken to deepen your understanding of yoga.  It will also give you the essential ingredients to be able to teach basic classes and graduates are eligible to apply for the Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher certification at the 200 hour level.   Experienced teachers may consider this course as a way of reviewing and revitalizing their teaching and their practice.

The course includes two 4 day Intensives 8/31 - 9/3/2018  (Labor Day Weekend) and January 1/4 -1/7, 2019 , 7 weekends between 9/14 and 12/14 - 3pm Fridays - 5pm Sundays  (Dates:  9/14-15; 9/28 - 30; 10/12-14; 10/26-28; 11/9-11; 11/30-12/1; 12/14-16)   The core curriculum will be taught between 8/31 and 1/7/19.   Requirements, which include assisting and observing and mentorship program, can be completed between 1/7 and 3/1/19.  There will be a final weekend on 3/1-3/19.

Teacher Education and Future Training/Un-Training options!

Yoga for All is an official Yoga Alliance School at the 200 hour, 300 hour Advanced level and as a Further Education Provider for certified teachers.  Please contact us to know what programs are coming up in the near future.

Currently, in Cuba and for Cubans only, we are running a 675 hour program, eligible for 200 hour and 300 hour RYT status on completion.  There has been interest in a 300 hour advanced course in Europe and East Coast for teachers with a basic complementary 200 hour certification and teaching experience.    It has also been of interest to more experienced teachers who are seeking a sangha and support of a practice that resonates with the inner body, supports the authentic voice of the teacher and practitioner, and both respects and questions yoga traditions....A kind of un-training!    The curriculum of this 2 year 300 hour training is shared through bimonthly online information, conference/video calls and workshops.    Its occurrence will depend on the level of interest in the program and whether applicants can attend the majority of workshops Mary is teaching in Europe/Tennessee between Spring 2018 and Spring 2020.

Cyd and I have taught a Basics 250 program in this local area and are considering teaching a full Advanced 300 hour course in early 2019 in the Mendocino area.   Cyd continues to lead 200 hour trainings in Oregon at the Hawthorn Institute.
